How many times have you found yourself in a situation of not being happy? Bad things have happened, and life doesn’t seem to be fair. And the worst thing… it always happens to you. My dear friend Peter Sage calls that level of consciousness victim mode or “to-me” mode. Bad things happen to me. Even worse, the things happening to me allegedly hold me back from being who I am supposed to be. Great. Successful. Mastering skill. Mastering life.
Here’s the thing: We’ve all experienced our fair share. These things happen to all of us. Life happens to all of us. And it hits us pretty hard sometimes. It is often challenging to handle such situations. It takes time to get over it. But it is also a dangerous trap where you always find reasons for being miserable.
Get off your story! Drop the victim mode!– Peter Sage
There is one big difference between those who wallow in self-pity, who feel stuck, who are not making progress, and who are looking for excuses, and those who are remarkably mastering their lives. The latter accept the situation. They observe and evaluate. And then they make a choice. How to move on from here. What’s next? How do I use this situation? You always have that choice.
Life will be always happening – in a good and a bad way. What counts is how you react to it.
Right now, we are experiencing one of the toughest times of our lives. Almost the entire northern hemisphere is in the middle of a Covid-19 pandemic. Life as we knew it, seems to be over. But what happens next is up to you. You always have a choice.
You don’t have to settle. It’s a choice you get to make every day.– Seth Godin
As Moonshot Pirates, we made a bold choice. We chose to avoid being affected by the limitations of a lockdown and the depressing grey of November in Vienna. Hence, we relocated our office to Tenerife for a few weeks. Simply to stay energized, inspired, focused and creative.
What are you going to do with the new set of circumstances? How are you going to use the situation to grow? What are you going to make of the time gifted to you?
Use the time to learn, to reinvent yourself, to get better in something important to you… a skill, a topic.
Stop listening to people who tell you you can’t. No matter what happens, you do have a choice. Conquer challenges with that mindset and life is going to be amazing. So, what life do you choose?
