It’s been half a year since 2020 ended and 2021 began. Perhaps you wrote down a long list of goals for the year and New Year’s resolutions to keep. Perhaps you’re still on track, perhaps you’ve lost track. Having reached the second half of the year, what better time to reflect back on the six months that have passed and to look forward to the six months that are coming up?
The Past 6 Months
At the end of last year, we published this article on how to make 2021 the best year ever. Hopefully, you wrote down a few goals you wanted to achieve this year. If that’s so, find your goals and evaluate:
- How are you doing? Are you on track or not?
- What did you achieve?
- What did you learn?
- Which challenges did you overcome?
- What are you grateful for so far?
Even though it feels awesome to reach our goals, working towards our goals is much more about the person we become on the way there, and not the achievement of reaching the goals. So don’t worry about having lost track, if that’s the case. Focus instead on what you’ve learned along the way, how much you’ve grown already, and all the awesome things that have happened to you. Regret is a waste of time. Acknowledge your efforts and your lack of efforts, and improve for next time.
The Upcoming 6 Months
It’s easy to come up with wild and numerous goals at the beginning of the year. The new beginning feels like a new chance and it is usually super motivating and energizing. On January 1st, we’re full of dreams, hopes, and aspirations, and that’s awesome. However, when our daily life starts and we get caught up in our old routines, we tend to lose our vigor and visions. But there is no need to keep it like this. We can restart our motivation and our commitment. So let’s do it!
Start by watching this video on how to set the right goals. Then continue with the questions below:
- Which goals do you want to focus on for the next 6 months? For example, in terms of:
- School or Work
- Personal Growth
- Creativity
- Family & Friends
- Health
- How will you achieve those goals? Which habits do you need to develop, which milestones can you celebrate along the way?
- Who can you use as an accountability partner to help keep you on track?
Remember, it’s all about growing, so no worries if you don’t manage all of it. Simply use this as a chance to #thinkbig, #daretolearn, and #takeaction. However, how cool wouldn’t it be if you actually managed to achieve your goals? Go for it, pirate! It’s now or never!
