In today’s fast world of high-speed internet and advancing technology, we almost forget to look back and see how far we have come. Thanks to many generations that evolved over time we have come to the point we currently stand at and can proceed further from. Understanding each generation category and its differences can help us in building stronger relationships, whether in business or in our personal lives. That is why we are bringing you the first article from this series published every Thursday focusing on the generation topic.

Generation Explained

Before discussing different generation types, we should have a good understanding of what a generation really is and what characterizes it. Pause for a moment and think about people you grew up with, your classmates, your friends, etc. Yes, they are all different, but yet, there is something these people have in common – it is the generation. To get a better understanding of how a generation is shaped, you can read through this article that will give you a basic idea about the topic.

Generations Listed

  • Great Generation: Born between 1901 and 1927.
  • Silent Generation: Born between 1928 and 1945.
  • Baby Boomers: Born between 1946 and 1964.
  • Gen X: Born between 1965 and 1979/80.
  • Gen Y or Millennials: Born between 1981 and 1994/6.
  • Gen Z: Born between 1997 and 2012.
  • Gen A: Generation Alpha starts with children born in 2012 and will continue at least through 2025.

Conflict of the Generations

Diversity can often bring conflicts to the table. The most common reason for the conflict of the generations is the generation gap. The gap that takes us further from the experiences of the other generation.
