Meet the #beapirate challenge 2021 Winners

|

What a journey! A whole month of epic shit has passed and 65 cool projects have been developed as a result. So many mentors have been blown away by your solutions, pirates. No matter if you made it to the finals or not, know that you’ve made a huge difference already and contributed positively to the world: Together, we have moved one step closer to solving the global challenges we’re facing. We are super inspired by all participants, and we would have loved to take everyone to Silicon Valley this December.

And the winner is… A huge round of applause to team Project Firefly! The three young women – Jesse Pound, Soliana Fikru, and Valkyrie Holmes – did an amazing job developing and pitching their idea. With the help of vortex cannons and drones, they hope to improve the fight against wildfires. Vortex cannons emit pressure waves that manipulate air molecules, knocking out the sustaining factor of all fires. Through the use of fluid dynamics, drones can stop the fire from spreading and damaging outside areas. You can learn more about their project and follow their journey here. They’ve already gotten one sponsor, ARSAC Technologies, onboard, and are well on their way to revolutionizing the fight against wildfires.

Here is their pitch video. If you want to watch their live pitch, click here to see the recording of the official Pitch Night:

These three women will join the Moonshot Pirates team on an unforgettable trip to Silicon Valley later this year where they will visit companies such as Facebook, Pintrest, Google, and Apple, and the campuses of Standford University and Singularity University.

Looking Ahead

Every setback is a chance to grow and to catapult oneself into the future. Even though some of you didn’t win the #beapirate challenge, you hopefully learned a lot, had tons of fun, and made many new friends. Life is a journey, is a playground, is an adventure. Be proud of yourself for coming so far. No one failed, some of you just didn’t win.

But what to do now? The challenge is over and life goes on, but with the huge difference that you’re now part of a global community of pirates. That means you can:

  • Reach Out to Mentors: Some of you might want to continue working on your project and still need some guidance from our network of mentors. They are here for you! Just reach out to them via the platform if you need additional support.
  • Participate in live sessions: We organize many online events, workshops, chats, and programs that you can join to learn, grow yourself and have fun. All of it can be found on our platform.
  • Continue journeying with us: A community only exists through its members, and we’re grateful for each and every one of you to be part of our global movement of future-oriented talents and young changemakers.

Never stop rocking, Pirates! You did amazingly well and we can’t wait to see what happens next with you and with your ideas.
