Project Firefly

With global warming affecting the world's climate, wildfires are increasing in both frequency and intensity. Wildfires are burning over twice the area they were burning in the 1980s, and wildfire related expenses have doubled since 20 years ago. Yet, the technology we use to fight and manage wildfires hasn't changed since then. It is unsafe, ineffective, and unsustainable. Our moonshot is an innovative approach to fighting wildfires which uses autonomous planes and drones to reduce the amount of people needed in dangerous wildfire zones. Autonomous planes will be used to put wildfires out using current techniques, while drones will use vortex cannons to contain them and prevent them from spreading.
