The ever-increasing amount of space debris will be a major obstacle to overcome for future rocket flights. The Space Elevator enables the effective gathering and recycling of space debris. The Space Elevator reduces transport costs into space. Once it is built it will be way more environmentally friendlier than conventional rockets. Furthermore, there are many industrial applications, that would benefit from the vacuum and freezing temperatures in the geostationary orbit.
